Columbus is a city in Burke County, North Dakota, United States. According to the 2010 Census, the population of Columbus was 133. The city is located in the northwestern part of North Dakota, and is named after Christopher Columbus. Columbus is located near the border with Canada, and the nearby community of Portal is an international border crossing. Agriculture is a major industry in the area, with wheat, canola, and barley being some of the primary crops. The city has a community center, park, and small businesses. The closest major city is Minot, located approximately 75 miles to the southeast.
